National Croissant Day 30th January 2025

Let’s celebrate the iconic French croissant on National Croissant Day 2025

Croissants

The croissant is one of life’s simple pleasures, and the French love them so much that the croissant has its own national celebration day, National Croissant Day.

Trending giant croissant on TikTok and Instagram

The latest social media buzz on Instagram and TikTok is a massive, eye-catching croissant taking Paris by storm. This oversized pastry is available from Philippe Conticini bakeries in Paris and, now very excitingly, in South Kensington, London(!) It has become an instant hit among locals and tourists alike with influencers posting content daily attempting to eat the enormous treat!

The history of the croissant

Austrian queen Marie Antoinette introduced the croissant to France in 1770 before the French Revolution when she lived at Versailles. Do you think she would believe we still enjoy them as much today as she did all those years ago!

Should croissants be straight or curved?

You may be surprised to know that there is a significant difference between curved and straight croissants. The curved croissant is made using margarine, and the straight croissant is made with butter. The buttery croissant is usually the preferred option as French butter is so delicious.

Bon Appétit!
